Max here, with the entire list of (RRHOF) inductees:

Nirvana, Chic, and KISS are among 16 nominees up for election in the museum's Class of 2014. Also on the ballot include Hall and Oates; The Replacements; The Meters;  Linda Ronstadt;

It goes even deeper with Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Deep Purple, Peter Gabriel, LL Cool J, Cat Stevens, Link Wray, Yes and the Zombies.

While I am really happy for these artists (REALLY, I am), I continue to take issue with the Rock Hall for being very "slow" with the nominations.  Last year after long waits, RUSH and HEART finally get in!  Most of these bands (espeically KISS-no matter what you think about them--their promotional tactics changed the way we SEE rock and roll) should have been nominated and inducted YEARS AGO!

Another part of me says that many artists continue to be overlooked.  Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robin Trower,  Jethro Tull,  Willie Nelson and Grand Funk Railroad have NOT been inducted,  I am harping on the latter. GFR has sold so many records, has the "anthem" for veterans in the Vietnam era, sold out Shea Stadium faster than The Beatles, changed the way we view live shows today with (for it's time), very elaborate intricate light shows and effects.  Back in the early 70's,  you never saw lights that covered an enitre stage.  That's just a few things to state my case..

My faith in the RRHOF is dwindling, especially after Deep Purple is nominated for the second time in as many years and LL Cool J has returned after a hiatus to the ballot.  Why?  Take a look at this list (CLICK HERE) and tell me you don't think there is a valid case for my post.

Feel free to let me know what YOU think.   Max

Max, You are right! I think that Deep Purple should have been in there a long time ago... Hope that your Grand Funk Makes it someday..

Wow- again the Monkees are overlooked! They have given us decades of great music of their OWN talent. What a shame!

Max here, I think that the RRHOF need to be reminded about a few things about the Monkees. #1. Initially, they did have a backing band (the wrecking crew) to back them up. As Don Kirshner was seeing the real talent of the band, including songwriting, then they produced some awesome work and then was able to go out on the road. #2. They were the first band to have ...VIDEO! Long before MTV, they set the standard for video music. #3. No other band could translate from records to TV like they did. BTW, RIP Davy Jones
